The above is the first label attached to the specimen Arcas gozmanyi, collected by H. L. King in Panama in 1971.
This handwritten label, listing the Latin name of this newly collected butterfly, is followed by "H H Dee" - perhaps the name of the individual who coined the name. Splendor, of course, is a distinctly English word used here in reference to the beautiful appearance of the male butterfly's wings. There is no date on this label.
This last label, the newest, indicates the name of the butterfly was changed from Arcas splendor to Arcas gozmanyi due in part to Bálint's research in 2006. The TYPE field also indicates a new organizing system for these specimens. Lastly, OUMNH names the place where this butterfly is held.
